Apple's Swift Sprite Kit: linearDamping, how is this property used mathematically? -


i'm working on game engine in java. while using sprite kit swift , property lineardamping used in skphysicsbody slowing down skphysicsbody. question is, how used mathematically reduce velocity? have velocity game engine, gradually slow down moving object, need know how lineardamping property used doing so. thoughts or knowledge great, thanks.

the formula box2d velocity *= 1.0f / (1.0f + time * lineardamping);
